Above-gound or in-ground pools need to be vacuumed regularly. Owning a pool vacuum helps to relieve you of this task and keep your pool water looking nice and clean as opposed to cloudy. Vacuuming your pool keeps all of the chemical balances running at other best and your pool looking desirable for those hot summer days.Do I Need A Vacuum To Clean The Bottom Of My Pool?

Why do I need a vacuum? How does it work?

You absolutely need to vacuum your pool to pick up all of the dirt and debris that gets in your pool water because of the wind. Debris eventually finds its way to the bottom of your pool and this is where a vacuum is most helpful. If your filter is doing its job circulating, it doesn’t always catch every leaf or larger piece of debris, which is why you need a vacuum.

In order to vacuum your pool you will need to connect a hose to the skimmer and vacuum head. This all usually comes together when you go to purchase a pool vacuum. The vacuum itself attaches to a metal pole that is telescopic and allows you to push the vacuum around the bottom of the pool. The pump provides pressure to the motor so that you have suction power through the hose which allows you to pick up dirt at the bottom of the pool. It is much easier to vacuum the pool than trying to walk around with a net.

What if you don’t vacuum?

If you don’t vacuum your pool, be careful. Your pool water will collect dirt and debris and it will make it much harder for your pool chemicals to keep your pool water clean. If your water is dirty then you have to use more chemicals to shock it and you will have more financial responsibility as you will have more damage to the pool requiring you to fully drain and replace the water more often.

What are my options?

It isn’t that difficult to keep your pool vacuumed now. There are technically advanced pool vacuums available to purchase that don’t require you to stand outside and push around the vacuum yourself. Automatic vacuums simply go inside the pool and cover vacuuming all of the surfaces inside of the pool. Sometimes they can get tangled so you should take a look and check on them periodically to make sure they are working. They can get stuck behind a pool ladder or a pile of sand that may have collected at the bottom of your pool. Overall, they provide you with the cleaning service you need with little attention from you.

So, if you asking if you need a vacuum to clean the bottom of your pool, the answer is yes. If you do not own a vacuum you can use a pool cleaning service to help with the ongoing vacuuming maintenance of your pool.
