Enjoy your Pool Beyond the Summer Season!

Summer is drawing to a close and most pool-owners are running through their pool winterizing checklist and rolling out their winter pool covers.  Instead of hibernating away from your pool and abandoning your daily workout, extend the use of your pool by heating your pool.  There are number of ways to extend the use of your pool.  Covers or heating systems are the main categories that can increase your swimming to multiple seasons.  Depending on your climate, it could extend the swimming season to year-round.

Covers

There are many different covers available to help keep the heat in the pool.  There are covers to keep out debris or covers that capture the suns heat and warms up the water in the pool in the process.

Pool Enclosures

A pool enclosure covers the entire pool.  It surrounds the pool all the way around and domes over the pool.  A pool enclosure can cover above ground or in ground pools.  The air inside the dome is warmer and helps to maintain the pools heat.  There are two basic types of pool enclosures, a frame-set dome also called a “structural” enclosure and an inflatable pool enclosure.  Pool enclosure extends the swimming season, depending on the climate in your area, potentially extend it to year-round.

Other benefits of pool enclosures are that they protect pools from bugs, debris, and rain.  They also reduce water evaporation from the pool.  This also reduces the need for balancing chemicals.  Less chemicals means less money spent toward the upkeep of your pool.

Heating Systems

Solar Heaters Systems

Solar Pool Heating provides a cost-effective way to keep your pool warm and inviting.  There is enough solar energy, even in the cold Northeastern United States, to warm pools to summer levels.  Many pool-owners install the solar heating systems themselves in about 6 to 12 hours.  Pool-owners can enjoy a “green” lifestyle and enjoy many more months of swimming with no additional monthly utility costs.  Solar Heating can double your active pool season from 3 to 8 months in the north and up to 12 months in the south.  Pool temperatures increase of 15-20 degrees.  There are two types of solar heating:

Rigid Solar Heating

Strip Solar Heating

Electric Heat pumps

An efficient heat collecting technology is through a Heat pump.  Heat pumps collect heat from air outside down to 45-50 degree range.  A heat pump will extend the swimming season in northern climates and in the sub-tropics and tropics climates; it will maintain comfortable 80 to 90 degrees pool water.  Heat Pumps are super quiet and use ozone friendly refrigerant.

Gas Heaters

Gas heaters have the highest operating cost, least efficient, least effective way to heat a pool.  Although, it is one of the fastest way to heat up a pool and maintains a constant temperature.  It does not matter what the temperature is outside but gas heaters do well for spas and hot tubs.
