An Easter Egg Hunt in Your Pool?!
Most kids enjoy the annual Easter Egg hunt. Although such festive activities usually take place in a grassy field not a ….swimming pool! If you’re looking for a unique way to plan the annual Easter Egg hunt for the kiddos in your life consider starting a tradition of an “Easter Splash”.
Making it Happen
Get yourself a ton of plastic eggs (we like the idea of 300) and number them. The kids will bring you their eggs and exchange them for prizes. Prizes may be treats or toys. Swimming for your hunt is a great way for the family to be silly and active together.
Of course, as you may have guessed, being a good swimmer gives the egg hunter an edge in gathering the bobbing eggs. Other swimmers may splash around while their parents hang out on the side lines to hold their stash for them.
Variations on the Hunt
-You could plant eggs geared toward younger or inexperienced swimmers in the shallow end.
-Every child could have a basket they have to bring their eggs to and once it’s full, they have to stop hunting to make it fair for everyone.
-Every child in the hunt may be assigned a certain color of egg to retrieve. For instance, boys could get be allowed to only retrieve blue eggs and girls only pink; or one child could be assigned green, another child orange and so on. This is just another way of making things fair so that every child in the pool ends up with the same amount of eggs and therefore the same amount of “loot”. Assigning egg colors is also a good way to “tailor” the prizes to certain children you may have in mind for certain items.
