We understand that you are eager to jump into the pool, but you may need to relax a little bit and take the next few steps that we are about to mention. Ready? Let’s go:

First Things New Pool Owners Should Do

First Things New Pool Owners Should Do

Clean up the area around your pool

It is important that the spot where you set up your pool and the area around it is clean. Search for debris you may have missed from the first cleaning session and clean again before you get to installation.

Check for wear and tear.

Your deck furniture is a very important part of your pool, and you must check the entire thing for wear and tear. Clean the deck furniture, and if you find something that needs repairing, get to it immediately. If you mount your pool, the realization that the deck was faulty could come with accidents, which is something we are definitely avoiding.

Check your chemicals

Have a checklist of the chemicals that you need to run your pool safely and hygienically. Make a checklist so that you can be sure you are not missing any one, preinstallation. Look through everyone, how they can be opened, and read the labels for small things you may have missed, like an expiry date or something like that.

Check the filter

Your pool filter ensures that only clean water makes its way into your pool. If the filter is broken, dirty water may escape into the pool, and we do not want that, especially if kids are swimming. So check the filter for even the smallest of cracks.

Check the pool material.

Sometimes, there may be a fault from the factory, and if you ordered in your pool, you might have missed that. There is a chance that you may not see a fault until you have filled up your pool; however, check nonetheless before you fill it up.

Check your pump

You are meant to run your pump every day to ensure that the water in your pool stays neat and not cloudy. Ensure that your pump is in good condition and that it is connected to a water source that you approve of.

We are getting closer to the dip point already, so exercise a little more patience.

Fill up your pool

Attach your hose to the pump and begin to fill the pool from your water source. Some people prefer to have a water truck fill up their pool because they do not want to rack up water bills. However, if you are filling from your home source, pay attention to the pool, so you do not overflood your garden or the surrounding of your deck.

No, you are not ready to jump in just yet, sorry. In about 24 hours, though.

Add chemicals and test for balance.

After filling the pool, use a test strip to test the pool in different parts. When you are done, add your chemicals one after the other, using a brush to spread as you add. When you are done, test for balance, and if you need to add more, do so till the pH is balanced.

Wait for 24 hours, and take that first dip.

Being a new-time pool owner requires doing everything right. However, you can always call a pool installation service to take all of this work off your back. These are very important steps you must take if you want to enjoy your pool.
